Ducks lose 4-2 to Preds in third period setback: Recap

The Anaheim Ducks were unable to complete a season sweep of the Nashville Predators, losing 4-2 at Honda Center. This loss dropped Anaheim to a 20-34-3 season record and 2-5-1 since the NHL All-Star Break. Isac Lundestrom and Brett Leason scored for Anaheim, briefly reducing the home team’s deficit to one with just over two minutes left in regulation.

Max Jones, Brett Leason, and Mason McTavish provided assists, while Lukas Dostal made 25 saves. On the Predators’ side, Roman Josi, Filip Forsberg, Michael McCarron, and Gustav Nyquist scored, leading them to a 32-25-2 season record. Kevin Lankinen earned the win with 30 saves.

Nashville claimed the first lead one minute into the middle frame, with Josi scoring. Meanwhile, Josi is tied for fifth among NHL defensemen in scoring this season. Anaheim answered midway through the period with a goal by Lundestrom, set up by a remarkable pass from Jones.

As the Ducks tried to gain the blue line, Jones made a no-look backhanded pass to Lundestrom, tying the score.
