Ducks Defeat Sabres as Silfverberg Scores Twice in Zellweger’s Debut

Jakob Silfverberg and Olen Zellweger were the stars of the game as Anaheim secured a 4-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres at Honda Center. The win improved Anaheim’s season record to 16-30-1. Silfverberg and Sam Carrick were the goal scorers for Anaheim, allowing them to establish a comfortable 3-0 lead early on in the second period. Adam Henrique sealed the victory with an empty-net goal. Contributions from Zellweger, Troy Terry, Radko Gudas, Cam Fowler, Mason McTavish, and Frank Vatrano in the form of assists helped the Ducks in their winning effort. Goaltender John Gibson made 28 saves on 30 shots to secure his ninth win of the season and the 189th of his NHL career. Gibson came close to a shutout, but ultimately missed out on his 25th career blank sheet. The Buffalo Sabres managed to score two goals late in the game, with Jordan Greenway and Kyle Okposo finding the back of the net. Despite this rally, Anaheim’s lead remained intact. Goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 32 saves for the Sabres. Silfverberg kicked off the scoring, redirecting a point shot from Gudas into the net before the first TV timeout of the evening.
