The Anaheim Ducks played their final home game against the Calgary Flames. This game marked the retirement announcement of Ducks winger Jakob Silfverberg.
Silfverberg’s announcement came before the game and he skated alongside Lundestrom and Colangelo during the match. The Flames emerged victorious with a 6-4 win.
Andrei Kuzmenko led the Flames offensively with his second career hat trick. Rookie goaltender Dustin Wolf earned his sixth career win with 19 stops.
The Ducks, however, didn’t go down without a fight, as they scored three goals in the final period. The Flames led 2-0 after the first period, with goals from Andrew Mangiapane and Nazem Kadri.
Kuzmenko extended the lead to 3-0 early in the second period with a power-play goal. The Ducks fought back in the third period, closing the gap to 4-3 in just four minutes.
Colangelo scored the first goal for Anaheim in the third period, ending a 22-year wait for the franchise. Despite the Ducks’ resurgence, the Flames held on to secure the victory.
Kuzmenko’s strong play was evident, having gained 13 points in his last eight games. The secondary helper of defenseman MacKenzie Weegar clinching his third 30-assist season in the last four years.
Connor Zary extended the Flames’ lead to 4-0 before the Ducks’ comeback. Although Anaheim made a strong effort to narrow the margin, the Flames ultimately emerged victorious.
