McTavish has been on an impressive scoring streak, finding the back of the net in consecutive games and bringing his total goals for the season to 19 in 64 games. The 21-year-old center is currently ranked third among team leaders in points and goals for the season. Zellweger also made an impact, registering his first back-to-back scoresheet appearances in his young NHL career. With three assists in a single game, he now boasts five points in his last six outings.
McTavish had a close call when he nearly scored again on a 2-on-1 rush, but Markstrom managed to make a spectacular save, denying McTavish’s shot. Unfortunately, McTavish had to leave the game early in the second period after colliding awkwardly with two Flames defensemen, and did not return to the game. The Flames capitalized on a penalty to tie the score, and Sharangovich, who was acquired from New Jersey, has had a standout season with 29 goals and 54 points in 74 games. Terry also had a scoring opportunity on a breakaway later in the period, but Markstrom made a big glove save to keep the score level.
Calgary then took the lead, but Anaheim quickly equalized with a goal from Kuzmenko, who was acquired in a trade for Elias Lindholm. Anaheim continued to fight back, with Terry scoring a power-play goal after Zellweger’s shot was deflected to him. This tied the game once again, as both teams battled for the win.
